Today’s Fan Comic February comic is The System by rosscott. It’s a very humorous comic that looks simple, but as I just found out, takes some time to make the characters. That elephant was a pain and a half.

February Fan Comic Month

I know it’s a little scary to see me posting in the blog…I don’t think I’ve done this in a few months, but I got awesome information to share with you people. First things first though, the reason I post infrequently here is that I post a lot on twitter, so if you want more randomness in your life check me and guy out there.

Guy and I are doing something we’re really looking forward to for the month of February. We’re calling it February Fan Comic Month and basically it means that for this month we’ll be posting comics that we’ve created with the style/characters of our favorite comics.

This gives us a little challenge for the month to kind of wake us up creatively. We’re nearing our 200th comic and were starting to feel a bit slow coming up with ideas. This idea has really got our juicy brain juices going so look forward to that mess. Also, it gives us a chance to recommend some of our favorite comics.

I’m not going to post here what comics we’ll be creating fan comics for because honestly we haven’t written all of them yet and we may have to change our choices based on what jokes we come up with. I read at least 20 comics a day so we have a few to choose from. Maybe next year we can do a comic each day, who knows.

Anyway, that’s it. Talk to you all in a few months.

For Posterity

Earlier today, Kip’s Facebook update mentioned E.T. aliens in Star Wars. This was the resulting conversation.

Zombie Peanuts

We all know Kip hates zombies. I wonder how he’d feel about this?

The Thatdbesweet/OIWCS 2009 tour is over

The last four weekends have been spent a different comic convention. Overall I’m considering each one a success because I met at least one interesting person at each show. Considering everything has been a blur for the last month I figure I’d just give a recap of our last con, the Central Canada Comic Con in Winnipeg.

This was our first time at the show and depending on next years date I’m sure we’ll do it again. This year it was over the Halloween weekend, which I doubt we’d do again, but besides missing out on Halloween at home the shot itself was actually really fun.

It was just about the perfect size for a comic our size in that we’d probably get lost in the shuffle of a huge con and we tend to get ignored at smaller cons since we’re a webcomic and don’t have any printed collections of our comic to sell.

Highlights of the weekend were definitely the drive, which was surprising since it was about 8.5 hours but we drove up with Joe from Business Casual and it was really interesting getting to “talk shop” with someone who’s been at the readership level we are and to try and see what worked for him. I already know a few things I will approach differently based on his suggestions. The other two people I was very happy to meet this weekend were Sandy Debreuil from the webcomic Crowbar Benson, and of course Peter Mayhew who you should recognize as the actor who played Chewbacca.

If you actually know of a comic convention near you please let me know so I can look into attending it next year. Anyway, that’s my recap. Now go read through the archives of Business Casual and Crowbar Benson, then invite me over and we can watch Star Wars together.

Guy Nearly Drops His Briefcase

Guy sent me this and I find it incredible. The poor guy was just trying to get to work and he nearly drops his briefcase.
